Rob: No one will argue that childcare, well it’s expensive. In fact, a report in the TULSA WORLD says, parents will spend more on infant childcare than they would to send a teenager off to a state university. And just like college, it is an investment; but an investment that too often hits the middle class the hardest. Studies show, those with the highest enrollment in quality childcare programs are often high income and low income families. Now that’s because the rich can easily afford it, while childcare for the poor is subsidized, with the middle class, well they’re getting caught in the middle, too often having to depend on friends or families, just to help make ends meet. Yet multiple studies have shown, children who receive high quality care are less likely to require special education, repeat grades, drop out of school, or engage in delinquent behaviors, which makes early childhood education an investment in all our futures. I’m Rob McClendon. Thanks for watching. See you soon.
