Rob: The landscape of rural America is changing. Our nation's agriculture industry is graying with age as younger generations leave small communities looking for better opportunities. And while farming remains a key component of rural life, agriculture as an industry is becoming more reliant on the greater rural economy than rural communities are on farmers. As noted earlier in the show, almost ninety percent of farmers' income now comes from off farm. Hard-working people, often working multiple jobs, to maintain a lifestyle they believe in. Nowhere is a targeted economic development effort needed more than in rural America. Revitalizing areas all of us depend upon each time we put the clothes on our backs or sit down to a meal.
